MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 13, 2018)—Taking a cue from successful coffee chains, General Mills Foodservice is introducing new resources to help healthcare foodservice professionals bring coffee-shop appeal to their own operations. The company will showcase its coffee shop-inspired solutions and other breakfast and lunch trends at the Association for Healthcare Foodservice’s (AHF) annual conference taking place August 21-24 in Minneapolis (booth #313).

AHF attendees will learn how to bring the coffee-shop experience to their own operation to drive traffic and increase patron satisfaction. General Mills will share recipes for fresh baked goods, a step-by-step guide to creating coffee-shop appeal and an incentive program that offers customizable merchandising tools (posters, table tents, window clings, acrylic merchandisers) based on purchase of qualifying products.

“There is no reason that healthcare operations can’t beg, borrow and steal from the successful leading coffee chains,” said Allison Curran, senior marketing manager at General Mills Convenience & Foodservice. “In addition to our robust line of high-quality baked goods with coffee-shop style, we wanted to share tips and resources to help operations leverage this trend and better compete with quick-service restaurants.”

Curran adds that AHF attendees can visit the General Mills booth to learn more about turnkey bakery offerings, try samples of several new products and view promotional support available to operators. There will also be samples of YoGo Coolers, a coffee shop-inspired twist on yogurt smoothies, and Chef Gilles Stassart will be on site to share additional recipe inspiration.

“General Mills wants to help foodservice directors in their efforts to make food a highlight of the day for patients and their caregivers,” said Curran. “To further enhance the conference experience, we will highlight other trends such as grab-and-go and share the latest information about the top brands that operators and their customers know and love.”

Highlights at this year’s booth include:

  • Chef Gilles will demonstrate a Waffle Sandwich Station featuring waffles made with Pillsbury™ Frozen Dough.
  • There will be samples of Apple-Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls made with Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Rolls and new scones, cinnamon twirls and muffins.
  • Attendees can sample Oui™ by Yoplait yogurt and learn how to optimize the yogurt set to elevate their retail space.
