In the United States, 1 in 9 struggles with hunger¹.
As a founding partner of Feeding America, General Mills works to alleviate hunger, end food waste and sustainably increase food security. Since the General Mills Foundation funded Feeding America’s MealConnect app in 2017, food businesses have had the opportunity to donate nearly 2 billion pounds of unsold, nutritious food to people in need through local charities, versus going to waste. General Mills is proud to partner with Feeding America to help provide more food to neighbors in need – especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, with innovation, we can feed the millions of people facing hunger in America.
Feeding America's MealConnect was created to source more meals and help end hunger in America. The app alerts nearby food banks, food pantries or meal programs when there is food ready for immediate pick up. Simply download the app and enter your zip code to register. Then snap a photo of your donation and the MealConnect algorithm will do the rest.
Visit mealconnect.org to offer surplus product for donation in your community. This helps feed your hungry neighbors and provides a tax benefit to you at the same time. Because your donations are going to a Feeding America food bank or their local partner, you are protected from liability by the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Act.
