MINNEAPOLIS (June 5, 2018)—General Mills Foodservice announces that Chickasha High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma is the Grand Prize Winner in the “Serve It Warm Sweepstakes,” winning $5,000 to use for improvements to its school kitchen.
The sweepstakes contest called on K-12 foodservice operators nationwide to submit a daily menu featuring an eligible Pillsbury product from General Mills Foodservice, which helps schools offer products kids that love to eat and include the nutrition they need. These items include Pillsbury hot breakfast items (mini waffles, pancakes, French toast, bagels, cinnamon rolls, frudel and filled crescents), Pillsbury biscuits and Pillsbury breads. In addition, General Mills’ portfolio of products for K-12 schools includes cereal, yogurt and snacks.
Brandy Stricker of General Mills Foodservice visited Chickasha High school on May 23 to present a check for $5,000 to Cheryl Johnson, the former director of Nutrition Services at Chickasha High School, and the school’s foodservice staff. The school plans to use the prize money to purchase a new double oven in its central kitchen—an item they have need for a while but didn’t have the funds to purchase.
“At a time when so many schools like Chickasha are experiencing budget shortfalls, we are delighted to share this $5,000 with Cheryl and her staff to improve their school kitchen and help their efforts in feeding students,” said Stricker.
Sweepstakes winners were selected by a random drawing. In addition to the Grand Prize Winner, there were five additional winners who each received $1,000 for the following schools:
- Mansfield Public Schools; Storrs, New Jersey
- Cobb County School District; Kennesaw, Georgia
- Tekonsha Community Schools; Tekonsha, Michigan
- Washington County Schools; Jonesborough, Tennessee
- Blackfoot Heritage; Blackfoot, Idaho
