Fresh Veggie Cheese Scones

Savory scones combine fresh flavors from bell peppers and carrots, and get a kick from cayenne pepper.

Sweet basil, dried, crushed

Cheddar cheese, sharp, shredded

Carrots, fresh, shredded

Green bell peppers, fresh, diced

Scallions, sliced

1/2 cup
Water, cold approx. 50°F
2 lb 8.00 oz

  1. Place biscuit mix, basil, cayenne pepper, cheese, carrots, bell peppers and scallions in mixer bowl fitted with paddle attachment; mix on low speed 1 minute.
  2. Add water and mix on low speed 1 minute.
  3. Roll dough on heavily floured surface into 9 x 30-inch rectangle; cut into 3 - 3-inch wide strips using pastry wheel.
  4. Cut each strip into 10 - 3 x 3-inch squares; cut diagonally to make 60 triangles total.
  5. Brush off excess flour and place on parchment-lined sheet pans; bake as directed below.
