Italian Egg Tart

Ingredients

Pillsbury's Best™ Puff Pastry Squares (05125) 12 oz 6 each
Egg, large, whole 2 oz 1 each
Water, cool (approx. 72°F) 2 Tbsp
Assembly
Eggs, large, whole 14 oz 7 each
Cheese, parmesan, grated 2 Tbsp
Italian seasoning 1 tsp
Salt, kosher 1/2 tsp
Pepper, black, ground 1/4 tsp

Method

Prep
  1. Thaw puff pastry squares, covered, either at room temperature 15-30 minutes until flexible or refrigerated overnight.
  2. Cut out centers of dough with 3-inch round biscuit cutter; set aside for other uses.
  3. Whisk together egg and water in small bowl; brush remaining dough with egg wash.
Assembly
  1. Combine parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper in small bowl.
  2. Crack 1 egg into center of dough; sprinkle with 1 tsp seasoning mixture.
  3. Bake as directed below until eggs are cooked to desired doneness level; serve warm.
Bake
Convection Oven*     325°F    14-16 minutes
Standard Oven          375°F     18-20 minutes

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 7 minutes of baking.
