Kentucky Apple Butter

Apple butter was never this easy! Ditch the peeling and start with apple sauce and spices, then bake.

Applesauce, unsweetened

Lemon juice
5.50 oz
2/3 cup
Molasses
1 Tbsp
Light brown sugar, packed
1 lb 4.00 oz
2 1/2 cups
Cinnamon, ground
2 1/2 Tbsp
Kosher salt
1 1/4 tsp
Nutmeg, ground
1 1/4 tsp
Ginger, dried, ground
1 1/4 tsp
Allspice, ground
1 1/4 tsp
Cloves, ground
3/4 tsp
Cardamom, ground
3/4 tsp
  1. Combine applesauce, lemon juice and molasses in large mixing bowl; stir until well-mixed.
  2. Add remaining ingredients; stir until thoroughly combined.
  3. Divide mixture between 2 well-sprayed full sheet pans; spread evenly.
  4. Bake as directed below until most of liquid cooks out, but is still spreadable; allow to cool.
