Pumpkin Spiced Brownie Bars

A cream cheese-pumpkin mixture is layered over cinnamon-spiced brownies, topped with toasted hazelnuts.

Pumpkin Mixture

Pumpkin Mixture
  1. Place cream cheese and sugar in a mixer bowl fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Stop mixer, scrape paddle and sides of bowl; add eggs and mix on medium speed for 1 minute or until combined.
  3. Add canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice to bowl. Mix on low speed for 1 minute or until combined.
  4. Stop mixer, scrape paddle and sides of bowl. Mix on low speed, slowly adding the water, for 1 minute or until mixture is combined and smooth.
Brownies
  1. Pour total amount of water into a different mixing bowl. Add brownie mix and cinnamon.
  2. Mix using a paddle attachment on low speed for 30 seconds. Stop mixer, scrap bowl and paddle.
  3. Mix on low speed for an additional 30 seconds. DO NOT OVERMIX.
Assembly
  1. Spread chopped hazelnuts in an even layer on a parchment-lined sheet pan; bake at 325°F for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted. Allow to cool.
  2. Deposit brownie batter into a greased or parchment-lined, full sheet pan.
  3. Deposit prepared pumpkin mixture, dropping spoonfuls randomly over batter; spread evenly (some brownie batter may be visible).
  4. Sprinkle toasted hazelnuts on top and bake as directed below or until bars are completely set in center.
  5. Allow to cool before portioning.
